From the work of the Consortium of Reclamation of the Padule and the Municipality of Fucecchio was born Usciana. It's a charming path of 6 kilometers along the Canal, marked by signposts, which winds along the banks of the Usciana channel and connects the Cappiano Bridge, from which the Via Francigena passes, to the crater of the Padule of Fucecchio. The itinerary is walkable in an hour and a half of trekking or in 40 minutes of mountain biking and offers the sportsman a splendid panoramic view over the valley that opens between the hills of Cerbaie and Montalbano. A path of extraordinary beauty, rich in vegetation and fauna of high naturalistic interest.
Among the main stages of the trek, there are the Burello Bridge and the Marabotti Bridge, from which you can see the church of Stabbia, and in addition the Cavallaia Bridge. Then continuing on the path, arriving at the confluence of the Third and Capannone Canals, from which the Usciana originates. Of great interest are the floral species present along the route, for example the yellow iris and the yellow water lily, and especially the rich fauna that populates the area in its entirety, from earth to heaven: here you can see, among others, the great white heron and the cinerino, the stork and the egret, while in the canals and in the water there are pikes, carps, eels and chub.
The maps of the itineraries, with the detailed description of the paths, the connections, the territory from the environmental, historical and tourist point of view are available in Italian and English.
