Whether it’s a hot summer day, a gray autumn afternoon or a starry evening, the Padule of Fucecchio always fascinates and surprises visitors. Thanks to the staff and collaborators of the RDP Padule Centre in Fucecchio, inside the largest Italian swamp you can visit the new Castelmartini Visitor Centre. This Centre, hosts a permanent exhibition on the wetland and some temporary exhibitions of photography and naturalistic drawing.
From the Visitor Centre, either walking or by bike, it is not difficult to reach the Le Morette area. Here there is a wildlife observatory which fans of birdwatching and nature photography, but also simple onlookers, are able to admire some of the numerous migratory species of birds (over 200 arrive here during the year) present in this natural environment. The passage of migrants, together with the cyclical alternation of dry and full periods, still marks the natural rhythm of the seasons: an aspect of the Padule that is appreciated only with repeated visits over time.
The RDP Padule Centre in Fucecchio offers many opportunities to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the place, know the history and the peculiarities of fauna: among the main naturalistic and historical-environmental excursions are the visits to the Le Morette area, to discover local flora and fauna with birdwatching; and those in the Righetti area, an area of great landscape and environmental interest. There are also "night" trips designed to observe the swamp and its inhabitants in particular suggestive moments. There are also many itineraries in the nearby environments to the wetland and the paths focused on history and local traditions. All visits take place with an environmental guide.
